NEW YORK, WASHINGTON, March 24 (SABAH): Pakistanis observed Pakistan Day in United States with national zeal and fervor as they observed the Pakistan Day throughout the world, Secretary General United Nations (UN) also participated in the Pakistan Day ceremony held in US.
A function was held at Pakistan Embassy in US capital Washington and the function started with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran whereas the Pakistan flag was also hoisted at the Embassy on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Ambassador to the United States Aizaz Chaudhry said that Pakistan Day reminds the Pakistani nation of maintaining the democratic system. He said that Pakistan is a peaceful country and is determined for ending terrorism.
“The war against terrorism is continuing successfully in the country,” Chaudhry said.
He said, “Pakistan is heading towards the path of stability and peace. The country’s economy is stabilizing at a quick pace.”
Chaudhry also read the Pakistan Day message of President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during the ceremony. The Pakistani community of Washington was also present on the occasion.
While permanent representative of Pakistan in United Nation, Maliha Lodhi welcomed the secretary General of UN on his participation in the Pakistan Day celebrations ceremony held in New York.
The ceremony started with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and Maliha Lodhi read the Pakistan Day message of President Mamnoon Hussain on the occasion and more than 100 ambassadors cut the cake of Pakistan Day along with permanent representative of Pakistan in United Nation.
During the ceremony, Maliha Lodhi paid tribute to founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Muslims of the sub-continent for their sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan. She said that Pakistan has made a lot progress since its establishment and still there are many challenges which are yet to be resolved.
