SRINAGAR, April 19 (SABAH): Lashing out at authorities for their “highhandedness” against students, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani has said, “our educational institutions have been converted into battlefield and our youth are subjected to worst form of state terrorism.”
“The student community is nowhere safe and now it is backlash against student even in Banihal,” Geelani, in a statement said, adding that “the authorities are ruining their future.”
Strongly denouncing the use of brute force against students, Geelani expressed deep concern over the reports of seriously injured girl student. “Eyewitness revealed that she was targeted and a stone was aimed at her from nearby CRPF bunker. It is a murderous attack and deliberate attempt to kill a student,” he said. Commenting over the closure of educational institutions, Geelani said, “It is a deliberate attempt and part of their game plan. They instigated and provoked students in Pulwama and latter closed all educational institutions.”
He blamed authorities for ‘waging war’ against students, asked to them to stop it forthwith or face resentment.
Meanwhile, Geelani expressed grave concern over the reported worsening health conditions of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat incarcerated leader Muhammad Rustum Bhat, saying that “doctors attending him have advised him surgery, however neither he is being provided specific treatment nor released from detention.”
