WANA, May 18 (SABAH): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that the role and sacrifices rendered by the tribal people in development, progress and stability of the country is a visible part of our national history. “Our brethren from FATA left their homes in the best national interests and ensuring security of the country and the entire nation will always remember their sacrifices with great pride and honour.
He was addressing the elders of the Mehsud tribe during his one visit to South Waziristan Agency on Thursday. Senator Maulana Saleh Shah Qureshi, GOC 9 Division, Maj. Gen. Nauman Zakriya, Additional Chief Secretary FATA Fida Wazir, Political Agent Zafar ul Islam and other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
While referring to the reconstruction and rehabilitation process, the Governor said, the Government has launched multi-purpose development packages which are being implemented at the cost of billion of rupees. “Projects meant for provision of potable water, rehabilitation of agriculture sector and health and educational activities are the important part of all such packages and no effort is being spared to fully implement them. With complete materialization of the development packages, the Governor said, the FATA will be brought at par with the developed parts of the country.
Referring to the demands presented in the address of welcome, the Governor announced a special package amounting to rupees 500 million to provide drinking water facilities and construct roads in far flung areas of the agency. On another point, the Governor said that presently Rs. 0.461 million are being provided as compensation amount for each fully destroyed house under CLPC program and assured to take up the matter with the prime minister. Further he said, presently DDO procedure is in practice in disbursement process of salaries to Khasadars and declared to continue it till 2018. The Governor also approved the establishment of a Tehsil Headquarter Hospital at Sara Rogha. He also assured to look into the possibility for construction of small dams in South Waziristan Agency and desired to prepare and put up feasibility reports.
Earlier on arrival at the Agency Headquarter, the Governor was warmly welcomed and was presented traditional gifts.
