RAWALPINDI, June 19 (SABAH): Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor has extended a warm welcome to Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho and his team ahead of their Pakistan visit, scheduled for July.
In a Twitter post on Monday, the DG ISPR said renowned football legend Ronaldinho with seven other international football players visiting Pakistan through joint venture of Pakistan Army/Leisure League.
DG ISPR said the players will be visiting Pakistan from 8-10 Jul 2017. During their visit, the players will call on Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa and play football matches at Karachi and Lahore for promoting the game of football in Pakistan and talent hunt.
DG ISPR said their visit to Pakistan is indicative of return of sports and peace and sports loving Pakistani nation. After cricket its football now. DG ISPR said that COAS takes another initiative to promote sports for return of normalcy in Pakistan.
Ronaldinho is currently the club ambassador for Spanish club FC Barcelona. He won the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 2004 and 2005. He played 97 matches and scored 33 goals for the Brazil national team. He was an integral part of the 2002
FIFA World Cup-winning team in Korea and Japan and was named in the FIFA World Cup All-Star Team.
