ISLAMABAD, Aug 12 (SABAH): Special Azadi train has begun its countrywide journey from Islamabad as part of 70th Independence anniversary celebrations.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb inaugurated the special train on Saturday.
In her address on the occasion, Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had established Pakistan for ensuring independence, protection, development and human rights. She said the purpose of establishment of Pakistan was that there should rule of the Pakistani masses in Pakistan. She said that the representation of millions of people is present in parliament and until and unless parliament is strengthened, Pakistan will never make progress.
She said that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will move forward the promises made with the people by former prime minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. She said the people who hold public gatherings in the night time did now how the sea of people looks like in the day time and what is the love of people for the Quaid. She said now Imran Khan should start preparation for retuning back. Marriyum Aurangzeb said she did not think that PPP will lag behind from supporting any step which is aimed at strengthening democracy. She said every citizen of Pakistan should read the Pakistani constitution, adding that the constitution represents the rights of every Pakistani.
She said the train portraying the historical and cultural ethos of the country is a reflection of dreams and aspirations of the people of Pakistan.
The Minister said the stable and peaceful Pakistan we live in today, is a translation of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah`s vision.
Referring to the sacrifices rendered the country’s security forces and contributions made by the people in different fields, she said the 70th independence anniversary is a time to pay rich tributes to our heroes and reaffirm our resolve to strengthen the country.
Marriyum Aurangzaib urged the people to visit the train with their children to apprise them of country’s history, landscapes and Constitution.
The Azadi train’s fifteen day long tour will end on 25th of this month.It will reach Peshawar Cantt this evening. The train consists of five Galleries and six Floats.
The five galleries exhibit themes like Independence Movement, sacrifices rendered by Armed Forces of Pakistan for safety and security of nation, Human Rights Violations in Indian Held Kashmir, development projects of Pakistan and CPEC and history and future plans of Pakistan Railways.
The six Floats on the train depict the regional diversity and cultural shades of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir with one float dedicated for each region.
A group of folk artists including singers, musicians and puppeteers are accompanying the caravan of Azadi Train to perform at all major railway stations as per the schedule of Azadi train.
The train will stay at every station to provide an opportunity to the people of those areas to see the beautiful cultural and historical models displayed on the train.
