SRINAGAR, Sep 12 (SABAH): All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani has expressed concern over the Home minister Rajnath Singh’s announcement about providing helicopters “loaded with warheads’ to the CRPF and armoured vehicles to local police in Jammu and Kashmir.
“It is totally a brazen military action which provides an ample proof that authorities in Delhi are hell bent to suppress and subjugate the aspirations and fundamental rights of distressed people in Jammu and Kashmir. This warlike policy is quite contrary to his (Rajnath Singh’s) own statements that they will change Kashmir into a paradise. It shows that they are least concerned for the people and that they are solely interested with land and its resources only,” Geelani in a statement said.
“The authorities in New Delhi should shun their arrogant and military approach and implement political standards for the resolution of Kashmir issue. Any forced or military solution to the issue is unacceptable for the people of the state,” he said.
Geelani reiterated his stand that “Kashmir is a humanitarian issue which can be peacefully resolved through the Indian Independence Act (IIA) of 1947 that can guarantee peace and overall prosperity for more than one billion population living in subcontinent.”
“The escalating tension between two nuclear powers of the sub continent poses a great threat not only to widespread destruction of a large chunk of human population in South Asia but also a grave threat to the global peace. India instead of trampling fundamental rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, should read writing on wall and fulfill its commitment it has made before international community,” he added.
